What are the British Insurance Awards? The largest and most prestigious insurance awards in the UK.

What awards has Pen been shortlisted for? Brand Management and Young Achiever.

Who’s the Young Achiever? Ed Kirk from Pen’s Global Team - nominated for his work on the RPS Property Platform (RPS is the largest MGA in the US). In a nutshell, Ed has built a system whereby the data that comes into the platform from a variety of RPS offices is consolidated into an online dashboard to enable RPS, Pen and the underwriters of the facility in Lloyd’s to understand exactly how the binders are performing in isolation and in the aggregate. To date, the task has involved: 73 binders, 2000 bordereaux and $110m GWP.

Who’s he up against? There are five other nominees from Rural Insurance, Stanmore Insurance Brokers, RSA and x2 from Allianz.

What about Brand Management? We are up against Co-op, LV= and ERS.

Why has Pen been shortlisted? Five years ago Pen didn’t have a name, never mind a brand, and we are now well-known and respected underwriting business – and we’ve achieved this partly because of our brand. When we asked our brokers for testimonials one of them said “It’s a brand that is not just a physical presentation, it permeates through to its people.” We agree, and we believe that part of the reason we’ve been shortlisted is the way in which our people #livethebrand

When will we find out if Pen has won? The award winners will be announced on 04 July at a ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall.
